Danny Boyle’s newest film Trance promises to be a mesmerizing thriller with illusions to reality and falsity, and the official teaser poster makes this even more apparent.
The film stars James McAvoy as a fine art auctioneer who gets mixed up with a gang run by Vincent Cassel, and in the middle of a heist suffers from amnesia. Together with his hypnotherapist (Rosario Dawson) he tries to regain his memory and the painting that’s been lost. But as the boundaries between desire, reality and hypnotic suggestion blur, the only thing that can save him is the return of his true memory.
The teaser poster is a brilliant piece of advertising for the film: an optical illusion, alluding to the film’s hypnotic theme, based on the face of its star, James McAvoy. It’s a great poster for what is already looking to be one of Danny Boyle’s best films.
Trance is released in UK cinemas on 27 March 2013.
